• When I got married, I needed to make a seating chart for the reception

• Instead of just typing one up, here's what I did:

        seating.pdf: seating.dvi
                dvipdf seating.dvi

        seating.dvi:  seating.tex
                latex seating.tex

        seating.tex: seating.pl guest.dat
                ./seating.pl guest.dat > seating.tex

• I couldn't believe what an idiot I was being

"Why am I writing a program to generate the seating chart?"
"It's not going to change."

• That seating chart changed approximately 6,000,008 times.
