Post the message unencrypted
Checksum the message
Post an encrypted digital signature that says
Article #12345 on this BBS,
which has checksum d3b07384d113edec49eaa6238ad5ff00,
was really posted by me!
To check the authenticity of the message:
Decrypt the signature
Checksum the message
Make sure the checksum matches
If the BBS operator tampers with the message, the checksum won't match
He can't tamper with the signature itself because he doesn't have the key
