The comments

• I was not going to complain about this

• Unlike most comments, the materials in these is mostly germane and helpful

• The program's author needs to keep his notes somewhere

  • In a one-person program, why not in the comments

• But this program has so many comments that I think they must obscure the code

  • Even for the author

• They sure did obscure it for me

• I would be looking at some loop

  • "What does this loop do?"

  • With the code spread out over three pages, I couldn't tell

• My programs are often accompanied by NOTES or TODO files

  • Perhaps that would work well for this author
