This is interesting to me for several reasons
First, I wrote a program (in C) to do it in my pre-perl days

I went off to 1992 USENIX and told people about it
To my annoyance, many of them said "You should have used Perl"
I went to look at Perl to learn how to rebut these arguments
But they were right
But the problem is intrinsically interesting
All sorts of techniques are applicable
