• More trimming is possible

• For example:

        my $member;

• This variable is not used anywhere

• Maybe it was used in the past, but its code was removed

• The declaration lingers on, like a cold sore

• or the Longshoremen's unions

• If the declaration is near the use, it is likely to be removed at the appropriate time
