Decimal arithmetic

• And actually arithmetic is not quite as simple as it seems at first

• We might have to look a long way to the right:

        0 . 0 5 5 5 5 2 0
      + 0 . 2 4 4 4 6 4 1
      -------------------
        0 . 3 0 0 0 1 6 1

• In elementary school they solve this problem by having us do the addition right-to-left

• Clearly, that doesn't always work:

        1/6 = 0 . 1 6 6 6 6 6 6 ...
      + 1/6 = 0 . 1 6 6 6 6 6 6 ...
            -------------------------
              0 . 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 ...
