We will have 16 lightning talks at YAPC 2003 in Boca Raton, Florida.
Lightning talks are brief (5-minute) talks that focus on a single example, idea, project, or technique. Lightning talks do not attempt to cover all aspects of their subject matter, but rather to present one facet of the idea clearly and succinctly.
To submit a proposal for a lightning talk, please send your proposed title and an abstract of up to four sentences to:
mjd-yapc-lt-2003+@plover.com
You should receive an automatic confirmation by email within an hour. If you don't receive this automatic confirmation message, you should assume that it was because I didn't receive your submission.
Submissions are due by May 28 midnight EDT (That's 2003-05-29 0400 UTC). Submitters will be notified by end-of-day Sunday, June 8 as to whether their talks were accepted. If your proposal is accepted, you will be expected to confirm within 24 hours that you will give the talk; otherwise, your slot may be given to someone else.
Lightning talks are an excellent forum for first-time speakers.
