Test code does not have to be clean and readable

• Why not?

  1. Control flow is straight-line

     • This automatically removes much of the potential for confusion

  2. Test programs are small and independent of one another

     • If they're big, chop them in half

     • This automatically removes more of the potential for confusion

  3. The code does not have to be particularly efficient

     • This eliminates a lot of foolish complications

  4. The target user community has a lot of expertise

• Conclusion:

  • No matter how awful it is, it probably won't be too awful
